Is there a fundamental difference between perception and cognition?

Recent evidence of cognitive penetration of perception, recent work on hierarchical Bayesian theories of the mind and the lack of any demarcation in the brain between perception and cognition, have all contributed to the view that there is no fundamental difference between perception and cognition. This talk will explain why nonetheless there is a joint in nature between cognition and perception.
